El Mirage, up the grungy end of Lygon, is a tasteful nod to the 1960s with wood panelling and green features - there's no fondue on the menu, promise.
A large open space, breezy, with a timber deck out front, El is about simplicity. The menu is short but precise. The coffee and juices shine. There's also a delectable display of cakes and pastries in a tiny glass case on the counter that runs the length of the concrete-floored space.
There's no power points here, but there is accessible WiFi - ask for the password. Looking for somewhere to meet with a client? Out on the deck is perfect. They're sure to be a bit wowed.
